What to Expect

After your Back Lift / Bra Line Back Lift surgery in Turkey, you may experience swelling, bruising, tightness and temporary numbness around the treated areas. Mild to moderate discomfort is also expected during the first few days.

Depending on the extent of surgery and your individual recovery, drains may be used temporarily to prevent fluid accumulation. Your medical team will monitor your general condition, incision areas and early healing before discharge.

What to Do

During your hospital stay, prescribed medications will be administered according to your treatment plan. After discharge, continue taking antibiotics, pain relief and any other prescribed medication exactly as instructed by your surgeon.

Your dressings and incision areas should be kept clean and protected. A compression garment may be recommended for several weeks to help control swelling and support the treated areas.

Gentle walking should begin as soon as your medical team advises. Regular movement helps circulation and reduces the risks associated with prolonged inactivity.

The First Few Days After Back Lift Surgery

What to Expect

Swelling, bruising and tightness are usually most noticeable during the first few days after Back Lift surgery. You may also feel pulling or tension around the incision, particularly when moving your arms, shoulders or upper body.

Sleeping and finding a comfortable resting position may be more difficult initially because pressure on the surgical area should be minimised.

What to Do

Follow the sleeping position recommended by your surgeon and avoid putting unnecessary pressure directly on the incision areas. Pillows may be used to help maintain a comfortable position.

Eat a balanced, high-protein diet and drink sufficient water to support healing. Avoid saunas, hammams, steam rooms, very hot showers and other sources of excessive heat during early recovery.

If drains have been placed, follow the instructions provided for drain care until they are removed by the medical team.

What to Expect

During the first two weeks, swelling and bruising should gradually begin to improve. Tightness, temporary numbness and sensitivity around the incision may still be present.

The incision can feel particularly tight when reaching, stretching or making sudden upper-body movements.

Avoid smoking and nicotine products, as nicotine can interfere with blood circulation and wound healing. Alcohol should also be avoided during the early recovery period and while taking medications unless your surgeon advises otherwise.

Continue wearing your compression garment for the recommended period. Avoid heavy lifting, vigorous housework, stretching your arms excessively and strenuous upper-body movements.

Light daily walking is encouraged, but activities that place tension on the incision should be avoided.

What to Expect

Most patients notice a significant reduction in bruising and gradual improvement in swelling during weeks 3–4. The back may begin to look smoother and more defined, although residual swelling and firmness can remain.

The scar may initially appear red, pink or raised before gradually maturing over the following months.

What to Do

Continue increasing normal daily activities gradually. Heavy lifting, strenuous exercise and intense upper-body workouts should still be avoided until your surgeon confirms that healing is sufficient.

Scar care may begin when the incision has fully closed and your surgeon approves it. Follow only the scar treatment recommendations provided by your medical team.

Compression garments are usually discontinued when your surgeon considers them no longer necessary. Exercise can be gradually reintroduced after appropriate healing and medical approval.

Protect surgical scars from direct sunlight and follow your surgeon’s recommendations regarding scar care.

What to Expect

After approximately six months, most swelling has usually resolved and the results of your Back Lift in Turkey become more established. Scar maturation continues beyond this point and may take 12–18 months.

The final appearance depends on the extent of surgery, individual healing, skin quality and maintaining a relatively stable weight.

What to Do

Maintain a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, regular physical activity and stable weight to help preserve your Back Lift results.

Continue protecting scars from excessive sun exposure while they mature. Smoking should be avoided because of its negative effects on skin quality and healing.

The procedure didn’t hurt and took less than an hour

went to AYT for upper eye surgery, and I am delighted with the results. Most of the bruising had gone very quickly after 7 days of taking Arnica tablets (bought in the UK; they don’t seem to sell the tablets in Turkey) and using the Arnica cream provided by AYT.

It is well worth the money to have it done. The procedure didn’t hurt and took less than an hour. I didn’t need to take any painkillers, I just took 2 paracetamol after the local anaesthetic wore off, and that was all. Everything was explained by the Surgeon in English, and Olivia was excellent at answering any queries, and she was always available to answer me.
The stitches were easy to remove when I returned home. I would recommend!
